Summer Break

I know it’s been a long time since my last post, but I have been enjoying my summer break and trying to relax as much as possible. Somehow there’s just not enough time in the day to lay around on the couch watching pointless daytime television AND get things done (laundry, grocery shopping, thank-you notes, etc.).

My most exciting news is that I have finally had a decent nights sleep!!! (See what pregnancy reduces one to?) This morning was the first time in probably 3 weeks that I’ve been able to wake up and not feel like I had been awake all night long.

I am now into my 38th week of being pregnant and I suppose I’m doing well. The doctor says that everything looks good: the baby’s head is down, she’s dropped (its nice to be able to breath again), and she seems to be growing well. I, on the other hand, am getting increasingly uncomfortable. For some reason, when women talk about pregnancy, they fail to mention the pain that comes along with the 3rd trimester. I hurt in places that no one should hurt—ever! Anna is no longer kicking, but stretching and pushing (poor baby is cramped in there) and my new pastime is trying to figure out what body part is poking out from my stomach; most of the time, I think it’s a foot.

When I finally get around to developing them, I’ll post some new pictures. In all seriousness, I look like I strapped a watermelon to my stomach. (How attractive is THAT?!?)

Well, it's been a while since I wrote, but I've been watching the grass grow and mowing, watching the grass grow more after it rained and mowing again... you get the idea. And then it happened! I was left all alone to fend for myself at my age! No one to cook a hot meal or tuck me into bed. No one to say to, "NO, I don't want to watch "Dancing with the Stars" or whatever they call the summer version of American Idol; ONLY dancing. Yes, I went to bed alone. I ate alone. I got up to talk ALONE. Why you say? Beacause my wife had to go away for the weekend to THE BABY SHOWER!!! What happened to the good old days when you just gave the baby something when they came over?? Noooooooo, now you've gotta sign baby registries, make special announcements, drive across the country and leave the elderly ALONE! What kind of a world are we leaving for my precious Granddaughter???

Dad,
I feel so sorry for you! In fact, I took out my violin and played it--for about 2 seconds! I happen to know that Mom left plenty of food for you to eat and she was only gone for two days. By the way, you are not even close to being old enough to be considered "elderly." Oh, and maybe I just haven't been watching the news, but last I heard, the state of Florida was nowhere near as wide as the country. :)

Please support the abuse of the elderly by calling the elderly abuse hot line at 1-be-nice-to-grandpa.

Anna would want it that way!!!!

Support the abuse of the elderly? Are you saying you want us to abuse you more? :)
