Sweet Friends

We went to the zoo a couple weeks ago with our friends. It was one of those days where, after a long and cold winter, the warmth of the sun on your skin causes your heart to overflow with joy. (Those of you in Florida probably don't get this, but I promise, it's a beautiful thing.)

We love getting together with our friends; Anna will often lay awake the night before because she is so excited to see her buddies. I love watching them play and interact with one another--how Anna wants to slap high-fives, hold hands, and give hugs. (The girl is definitely a hugger!)

When it's just the two of us, it's easy for me to forget how little she still is. She's so grown up in so many ways. Far from the sweet little baby that she was almost three years ago, she's her own person, with a unique personality, sense of humor, and almost-adult conversation skills. ("Give me some privacy, Mom." "Let me ask you a question...") But, when she plays with her friends, it allows me to see her as a little kid, full of energy and exuberance.

Some highlights: Anna and girlfriend, K, holding hands and slapping high fives as they rolled side by side in their strollers, M making a face and saying, "No!" when Anna asked him if she could give him a hug (I got a HUGE kick out of that one!), and finally, pictured below, Anna and T running (literally) around the playground holding hands.

Still holding hands...

And, still holding hands...all the way down the slide. Does it get any cuter than that?!?!

Some photos of our friends, who we are going to miss like crazy!!!

What I love about this next photo is how it really shows each of the kids' personalities. It was nothing short of a miracle to get them all to stand still enough to get a decent photo, and nothing short of hilarious to watch one take off and the rest follow because they were holding hands.
